 Memories of last adjutant of Adolf Hitler, Fritz Dargesa may finally acknowledge the personal commitment of leaders of the Reich in the Holocaust. Darges died on Saturday at the age of 96 years. He was the last surviving member of Hitler's closest circle of associates - took part in all the major conferences, meetings, social events and official speeches. Left a manuscript book in which he described the years spent at the side of Hitler.
Now, memories can now be published. Experts say that this book may finally give the fundamental answer to the question whether Hitler knew about the Holocaust. Some right-wing historians argue that, mass extermination of Jews took place without the knowledge and consent of the leaders of the Reich. Its author was to be the head of the SS, Heinrich Himmler. Scientists believe that given how close Hitler was Darges, it is unlikely that the aide did not once hear their leaders issuing orders in connection with the operation "final solution". Darges joined the SS in April 1933. His commitment to National Socialism quickly secured his position - in 1936 he was an adjutant to Martin Bormann. "The first time I met Hitler in the Nuremberg party congress in 1934 - told in an interview - he had a nice appearance, was very cordial." In 1940, after serving in the armored division Wiking France and Russia, Darges promoted to Hitler's personal staff. Also received the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross, the highest military decoration of the period of the Third Reich. Most of the time after 1942 years Darges spent in the "Wolf's rampart, one of the main headquarters of Hitler and his cottage in Bavaria. "There was a family atmosphere. One day we went along with Eva Braun and her sister to Italy. I had the impression that his sister Eve is interested in me, but I was not sure whether I should be brother in law of Hitler" - was telling. "As the aide was responsible for its day program. And, moreover, had always been at his disposal for each conference, at every meeting of the intelligence services of each council of war. I have to admit that it was for me a genius" - said Darges. Finally, Hitler was not so "friendly", as he believed his aide. During a conference in 1944, the leader of the Reich upset the fly, which on several occasions he sat on his shoulder and on maps. Hitler ordered the Dargesvi get rid of the problem. However, the aide suggested that if the fly "aircraft pest", it should deal with it one of the Luftwaffe. Derived from equilibrium, Hitler shouted, "You go to the Eastern Front," and dismissed Dargesa.
